What sex gives

2025-11-30

In a broad sense, sex is a set of reactions and actions related to the expression and satisfaction of sexual desire, ideally with a loved one. In a narrow sense, this is the sexual act itself, carried out in order to achieve orgasm. People have sex because it brings them pleasure, but there are also those who consider "sex for health", putting pleasure on the back burner. Both points of view have a right to exist.

Sex is a positive stress for the body, providing a kind of "shake-up". In terms of its intensity and the nature of the load, it is similar to sports activities, but intimacy cannot be replaced by physical exercises, since completely different muscle groups and organs are involved. Sexual intercourse has three important effects: anti-stress, antidepressant and analgesic. Regular sexual activity is essential for most body systems, including the cardiovascular system.

From a physiological point of view, the main benefits of sex include: • prevention of cardiovascular diseases; • improve blood circulation in the pelvic area and reduce the risk of congestion; acceleration of carbohydrate metabolism; increased activity of the endocrine system; Strengthen the immune system; the production of sex hormones that maintain physical fitness and increase life expectancy.

However, the complete absence of sex does not lead to serious negative health consequences. Men need regular ejaculation to reduce the risk of prostate cancer, which can also be achieved through masturbation. Abstinence does not harm women's health, although it deprives them of the pleasure and beneficial effects mentioned above.

It is important that sex ends with an orgasm, as blood flow increases during intercourse, and orgasm provides the necessary release. From a psychological point of view, sex is a moment of intimate self-realization and a way to get out of a state of loneliness. The process of intimacy is accompanied by a number of pleasant sensations, from arousal to release, each of which brings emotional satisfaction.

During sexual intercourse, hormones are produced that affect the mental state: serotonin (the hormone of happiness), endorphins (reduce pain and improve emotional state) and oxytocin (reduces anxiety). People who used to have an active sex life, but then stopped it (for example, due to a breakup or personal beliefs), may develop withdrawal syndrome. The production of sex hormones continues, but the lack of a sexual life can lead to irritability and depressed mood.

If relaxation does not occur, unpleasant sensations and discomfort may occur. If sexual deviations are not taken into account, the desire for intimacy in men and women is about the same. It depends on the sexual constitution — a set of biological factors that affect the level of sexual need: heredity, intrauterine development and early childhood. There are slightly more men with a high sexual constitution (and frequent desire) than women, but there are also guys with less desire compared to most girls.
